Goodyear GB Ltd. have
recently installed
FirstPAGE Alarm Manager software alongside an existing
installation of USDATA's FactoryLink to extend the capabilities of
the SCADA system at their factory in Wolverhampton.
The existing
FactoryLink SCADA system monitors various items of the plant
providing both production and status information to users
distributed across the site. Goodyear GB Ltd. wanted to extend their
SCADA system to allow users to be paged with alarms as they were
generated.
The FirstPAGE
Alarm Manager software by NETCON Technologies, tightly integrates
with FactoryLink allowing alarms to be generated within FactoryLink
to be routed to pagers automatically. The versatility of the
FirstPAGE Alarm Manager software means that each alarm generated
within FactoryLink can be passed directly to a specific user (or a
number of users), sending their pager the alarm information as a
text message. Escalation capability is integral with the FirstPAGE
Alarm Manager software meaning that alarms can be escalated
automatically if the alarm is not cleared within a set time. This
then ensures that all personnel are only notified of alarms that
need to be acted on eliminating any nuisance messaging. Upon
installation and commissioning, the FirstPAGE software was
tested with a high level of pages to ensure that alarms would be
passed to the pagers in all situations. Both FactoryLink and
FirstPAGE Alarm Manager passed this test with flying colours.
Goodyear GB Ltd. have
found the information gathered by the FactoryLink SCADA system
extremely useful and the recent addition of the FirstPAGE
Alarm Manager software means that they can now significantly extend
the uses of their existing FactoryLink SCADA system.
